Questions people ask

How do I know a VIN is a Porsche?

The first three characters (the WMI) identify the maker. Porsche WMIs are listed in the table on this page, as registered with NHTSA under 49 CFR Part 565.

Does a Porsche VIN show the options?

The VIN shows model, body, engine, year and plant. Paint, packages and original MSRP are on the Porsche window sticker, which you can pull from the VIN.

What is the check digit?

The 9th character. It is calculated from the other 16, so a typo or altered VIN fails the check.
